Source Data
Master the Essential Components of Source Data: From Activity Types and Emissions Factors to Cost Tracking and Custom Classifications
Meters may contain any number of source data records.
Source data records have the following properties:
-
Facility - A facility must be selected first to filter the list of meters.
-
Meter reference - The meter to which the source data record belongs.
-
Provider - The retailer or other source from which the record is provided.
-
Data source - The source of the data from which the record is generated; for example, provider invoices or a finance system.
-
Resource type - The category of resource being recorded, such as water usage, waste, transport fuel, and other resource types. A meter must be selected to filter the list of resource types.
-
Factor - The emissions factor associated with the source data. The date range indicated in the name of the factor must encompass the from/to dates of the source data record. A meter and resource type must be selected first to filter the list of factors.
-
Activity type - One of consumption, export, or production.
-
Activity amount - Depending on the activity type selected, this will be one of:
-
Consumption - Records consumption of a resource.
-
Export - Records electricity generated and exported to the grid.
-
Production - Records electricity produced; for example, by solar panels or a co-generation system.
-
-
Cost - The cost in dollars associated with the data record.
-
From - The date at which the data record starts.
-
To - The date at which the data record ends.
-
Charge type (optional) - A high-level category used for comparing source data for reporting purposes.
-
Purpose (optional) - Description of the data record as written in the source from which it is generated; for example, the line item description shown on an invoice.
-
Notes (optional) - free-form text notes.
